Cruz Bay is known for being compact and pedestrian-friendly, allowing travelers to easily reach restaurants, shops, bars, and the ferry dock on foot. This makes it convenient for daily errands without needing a vehicle. The central area is particularly walkable, though the surrounding terrain can be hilly, which may pose a challenge for some.

Public transport options in Cruz Bay are somewhat limited, with the main option being the VITRAN bus system that operates hourly routes on weekdays. While this can connect travelers to specific parts of the island, such as along Centerline Road, it doesn't provide comprehensive coverage, particularly towards the North Shore. Taxis are more prevalent but can be costly if used frequently.

Biking is not the most practical mode of transportation in Cruz Bay due to the island's steep, narrow, and winding roads, which lack dedicated bike lanes. While short biking trips within Cruz Bay itself might be possible, the terrain and road conditions make biking for longer distances or to remote areas less safe and convenient.
