Getting Around Ganja: Walkability, Public Transit & Biking

Walkability

68
Okay

Ganja offers a moderately walkable environment, particularly in its city center where key attractions like shops, cafes, and landmarks such as the Juma Mosque are within easy walking distance. The town layout is compact in central areas, facilitating pedestrian access. Additionally, recent improvements to sidewalks enhance the walking experience. Despite these positives, the city's larger size means that not all areas are as easily accessible without transport, especially outside the central zone.

Public Transit

55
Okay

Public transport in Ganja is functional but basic, relying predominantly on buses and minibuses to connect various parts of the city. Plans are in place to revamp the network and introduce a tramline which promises future improvements. Currently, though, the network's coverage and convenience do not match that of larger cities with more comprehensive systems, such as metros.

Bikeability

40
Bad

While there are some bike paths, like the 7 km trail in Heydar Aliyev Park, Ganja's bike friendliness is limited. Although the terrain is flat and conducive to biking, the lack of widespread infrastructure and the presence of busy traffic in some areas can make cycling less appealing. There is ongoing planning for more bike paths, but for now, biking is not a primary mode of transport for daily needs.
