However, many parts of Mount Pleasant still require a vehicle to reach essential services. Neighborhoods like Seaside Farms offer more walkability, allowing travelers access to shops and dining by foot, whereas other areas are more car-dependent.

Travelers will find limited public transit options in Mount Pleasant. The City is served by CARTA, with buses like Routes 40 and 41 connecting to Charleston. However, these services are infrequent and coverage is spotty, making it challenging to rely on public transit for daily commuting or exploring beyond common routes. Access to some desirable destinations can be inconveniently limited if relying solely on buses.

Mount Pleasant is quite conducive for biking, with features such as the Ben Sawyer Bikeway facilitating easy rides to nearby beaches. The Ravenel Bridge provides a scenic cycling and walking path to downtown Charleston.
