However, the island's pedestrian infrastructure is varied, with some areas lacking proper sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, making walking challenging in spots. George Town and neighborhoods like Pulau Tikus are more walkable, but transportation might be needed to navigate other parts of the island for errands or further exploration.

Travelers will find Penang's public transit efficient, largely due to the comprehensive Rapid Penang bus network that connects major parts of the island. The air-conditioned buses and the free Central Area Transit service efficiently cover key attractions, especially around George Town.
