Protaras offers a somewhat walkable environment, particularly in its central areas where restaurants, shops, and hotels are conveniently gathered. This structured layout allows travelers to accomplish most errands on foot within the busy tourist zones. However, since Protaras was designed primarily as a resort town, it lacks a traditional city core, possibly necessitating transport for more extensive exploration. Additionally, the intense summer heat and a patchwork of varied architecture can make walking less comfortable during peak temperatures.

Public transit in Protaras is functional, thanks to the OSEA bus network that connects the town with neighboring areas like Ayia Napa, Paralimni, and Larnaca. These buses run with relative frequency, particularly during the tourist season, and provide an economical choice for travelers. However, the absence of a more extensive transit system like subways or trams means relying heavily on buses, sometimes requiring inconvenient transfers, which can be limiting for more extensive travel within Cyprus.

Protaras is quite accommodating to cyclists, with gentle terrain and established bike paths along the coastal roads, making it an attractive area for leisurely rides and scenic journeys along the shore. Travelers can enjoy relatively smooth rides towards places like Ayia Napa and Cape Greco. However, bike infrastructure is not uniformly developed across all areas, and the occasional traffic congestion can present challenges, discouraging more extensive cycling explorations.
