Šibenik's old town is a walker’s delight, thanks to its compact layout and charming, narrow cobblestone streets that are perfect for leisurely exploration. Travelers will find themselves within easy reach of an array of amenities including cafes, restaurants, shops, and fascinating historical sites. The picturesque Riva, or promenade, offers a scenic place to enjoy a stroll, and reaching beaches like Banj is also feasible on foot from the town center. However, destinations situated farther from the city center might require additional transport, such as a bus or a taxi.

Šibenik offers a functional if somewhat limited public transit system. The municipal buses, operated by Autotransport Šibenik, connect the city to immediate areas and run from morning until late in the evening. Key neighborhoods like Šubićevac and destinations like Brodarica are accessible via these services. The city’s bus station is conveniently located near the center, providing connections to major Croatian cities and international destinations. Additionally, ferries services to nearby islands add to the transportation mix, but coverage can be sparse in some areas, and Sunday schedules are limited.

Biking in Šibenik presents an opportunity for exploration with some rental options, such as the Nextbike system, offering standard and electric bikes. The region also supplies well-marked cycling routes catering to various biking preferences, enhancing the overall experience. However, the city lacks significant dedicated bike infrastructure which could deter some travelers. Furthermore, the varied terrain, with its inclines and cobblestones in places, might present challenges to bikers unfamiliar with the area.
