However, while a traveler can accomplish some errands on foot, the overall infrastructure tends towards car dependency, indicating that walking alone is insufficient for most daily needs.

Public transportation in Vung Tau is limited and doesn't cater effectively to tourists. While buses do exist, they are neither convenient nor frequent enough to rely on for daily travel. Taxis and motorcycle taxis are a more practical option, offering a convenient means of getting around, though at a higher cost than public buses. Connectivity to Ho Chi Minh City through buses and speedboats is available, but local public transit options within Vung Tau remain sparse.

Vung Tau is reasonably bike-friendly due to its flat terrain and compact layout, which are conducive to bicycling. Biking is encouraged by the availability of rentals at hotels and guesthouses, and several scenic cycling routes enhance the experience. However, not all roads are bicycle-friendly, indicating room for improvement in biking infrastructure.
