Diadema presents a mixed bag when it comes to walkability. In certain central neighborhoods, travelers will find it convenient to walk to shops, cafes, and essential services. However, the overall city layout means that outside these areas, a car or public transportation might be required to reach various destinations. The varied sidewalk conditions and safety standards necessitate a bit of caution in some parts, making it essential for visitors to select their accommodation strategically to enjoy a more pedestrian-friendly experience.

Diadema benefits from its integration into the larger São Paulo metropolitan area's public transit system. A network of buses, including trolleybuses, efficiently connects travelers to São Paulo and other surrounding cities. This makes it relatively easy for visitors to commute for work, leisure, or additional amenities without relying on a car. The presence of a main terminal in the city enhances the convenience of public transportation, offering frequent and diverse travel options.

Although Diadema has some cycling infrastructure, it is not extensive enough to comfortably meet the needs of travelers relying primarily on bicycles.
