Dukhan is fundamentally a car-dependent city. It was established centered around oil production, with essential services and amenities spread out, prioritizing vehicle traffic. Although some areas have pedestrian paths, they mainly serve recreational purposes rather than daily errands. For travelers wishing to walk to cafes, coworking spaces, or for daily needs, Dukhan is not suitable.

Public transportation in Dukhan is limited, making a car almost essential. There's no significant public transit system within the region itself, aside from a bus route connecting Dukhan to Doha, which is infrequent and takes over two hours. Therefore, a traveler would find relying solely on public transport quite inconvenient.

Dukhan has some investments in cycling paths due to road beautification projects, but it isn't ideally suited for biking. The city's layout, combined with the extreme heat and significant distances between places, makes biking a challenge for daily commuting.
