Duluth, Georgia is somewhat walkable, particularly around its downtown area where travelers can find a charming mix of shops, restaurants, and amenities within walking distance. The city's recent improvements in this neighborhood have enhanced its pedestrian-friendly nature, making it feasible to accomplish certain daily tasks on foot. However, much of Duluth is spread out, which makes walking between neighborhoods difficult without vehicular transport, even though parks and recreational trails add some walkability to specific zones.

Public transit options in Duluth are somewhat limited, which may pose a challenge for travelers relying entirely on this mode of transportation. Gwinnett County Transit offers bus services that connect to the MARTA station in Doraville, thereby linking Duluth to the broader Atlanta area. Some express buses serve major routes toward Atlanta, but the coverage within Duluth itself requires improvement. Outside key commuter routes, public transit coverage is sparse, making it tough to navigate the city without a car.
