Ebene is primarily a business hub with infrastructure primarily designed for cars, leading to a less-than-ideal walkability environment. The city lacks extensive sidewalks and pedestrian-friendly pathways, which can make moving around on foot a bit challenging, especially for accessing daily amenities. However, there are some areas, especially around offices and hotels, that are convenient for short walks, meaning travelers can still enjoy short strolls within specific districts, although longer jaunts might necessitate other modes of transit.
Ebene benefits from a relatively robust public transportation system, including frequent bus services and the efficient Metro Express. This connection allows travelers to easily reach Port Louis and other key areas without needing a car, which is particularly useful for those commuting for work. Being near Rose Hill, with its transit hubs, enhances connectivity, making it feasible to live in Ebene and move around surrounding areas comfortably and efficiently.
While there are some efforts to improve biking infrastructure in Ebene, such as the Verdun bypass with a bicycle lane, the overall environment is not yet fully supportive of biking as a primary mode of transport. The pilot phase of the Cycle Network Project indicates future improvements, but current conditions with limited dedicated lanes and an environment not traditionally supportive of cycling make it a less convenient option for travelers looking to bike around frequently.
