However, sidewalks can be narrow and crowded with parked motorbikes and street vendors, sometimes forcing pedestrians onto the streets. Despite these challenges, travelers can navigate without a car in central tourist spots, though they should be aware of the bustling traffic and uneven walking surfaces.

Hanoi's public transport system includes a widespread bus network, offering an affordable way to traverse the city. Buses serve a vast array of districts and key sites, which is convenient for those traveling without private transport. While the system is reliable, it can be daunting for non-Vietnamese speakers due to limited English guidance.
