Key West offers a walkable environment, particularly in neighborhoods like Old Town where a plethora of shops, restaurants, and attractions are densely clustered. The city’s compact layout and flat terrain make strolling around quite convenient. However, potential drawbacks include the high humidity and heat during summer months, which can make walking for long periods less comfortable.

While Key West does have a public bus system that include routes like the free Duval Loop, the options are limited and less frequent than in larger urban centers. This system is primarily concentrated in popular tourist areas and it’s less suited for those relying on it for extensive daily commuting. Travelers can use it for occasional trips, but it's not robust enough for consistent use as primary transit.

Biking in Key West is highly convenient due to the island's small size, flat terrain, and ample bike lanes and trails. Cycling is popular and well-supported, with bike rentals easily accessible, providing an efficient means of transport around the island. However, certain busy streets like Duval Street might require extra caution or alternative routes for a smoother biking experience.
