León is highly walkable, particularly in its historic center where streets are narrow and charming, encouraging exploration on foot. The city is flat, adding to its pedestrian-friendly nature. Most key attractions, dining spots, and shopping destinations are concentrated in this central area, making it very convenient for travelers to access all they need without the use of a car.

León offers a decent public transportation network primarily made up of buses, covering the city and linking to nearby villages. While there's also a tram, it doesn't service the city center, making buses the main transit option. For longer journeys, León is well-connected by high-speed trains to major cities like Madrid. However, within the city, the compact and walkable nature often means transit isn't as necessary for those staying centrally.

Cycling in León is practical due to its flat terrain and availability of bike paths, some following scenic routes like the river. The city has a bike-sharing service, making it simple for travelers to rent bikes when needed. Although not extensively bike-centric, the infrastructure in place makes biking a convenient choice for errands or exploring beyond the city center, including accessing the famous Camino de Santiago routes.
