Midrand is a sprawling area that can be somewhat walkable, depending on the specific location. Certain areas offer amenities like cafes and shops within walking distance, while others do not, necessitating the use of transportation for running errands. The layout and urban spread make it challenging to rely solely on walking, though some districts allow for a more pedestrian-friendly experience.

Midrand benefits from good public transport options, primarily due to the Gautrain, which connects it efficiently to Johannesburg and Pretoria. The presence of frequent bus services such as Putco enhances connectivity. However, while the transit system covers major routes, travelers might need additional transport options like buses, taxis, or ride-sharing for reaching specific or less accessible destinations within Midrand.

Midrand is somewhat bikeable with certain cycling lanes in areas like Ivory Park, but overall, the infrastructure is still under development.
