While there may be some walkability around the central market area, essential services and daily errands are spread out, necessitating the use of motorized transport. This layout presents challenges for travelers looking to explore or complete tasks on foot.

Public transport in Mpigi exists mainly through buses and paratransit taxis connecting to Kampala, providing some degree of connectivity. Travelers can reach Kampala relatively well, but local travel within Mpigi itself might be less convenient. Motorcycle taxis, or 'boda-bodas', offer an affordable option but come with safety concerns due to high accident rates.

Biking in Mpigi is hindered by the lack of dedicated infrastructure and the potential hazards of traffic.
