Mykonos Town offers a distinctly walkable environment with its pedestrian-only streets and narrow alleys filled with shops and eateries, making it an inviting area for travelers to explore on foot. However, the overall walkability of Mykonos is limited beyond the central town, as many attractions, beaches, and amenities require transport due to the island's spread-out geography. Sidewalks are also sporadic outside the town center, making walking less convenient for reaching destinations beyond one's immediate surroundings.

Travelers will find that KTEL buses provide a cost-effective way to traverse Mykonos, connecting the central town with popular beaches, the airport, and villages. While this makes public transport a viable option, especially during peak seasons with more frequent trips, the buses can get crowded, and service may be limited at night. Despite these drawbacks, buses are generally accessible for reaching key sites, supplemented by water taxis for exploring southern beaches.
