Nassau is quite walkable, particularly in its downtown area where many attractions, cafes, restaurants, and shops are located close to one another. The area around Bay Street and the cruise port can easily be navigated on foot, making it convenient for travelers who prefer to explore without the need for a car. However, reaching residential neighborhoods or some beaches may require alternative transportation methods.

Public transportation in Nassau largely relies on the 'jitney' bus system, which provides an affordable, albeit somewhat unpredictable, method for getting around the city. These buses cover main routes and are a practical option during daytime hours. Travelers should note that while transit is available, it lacks the consistency of more formal systems, and rideshare services like Uber are not present. Alternatives like water taxis offer access to nearby islands, but overall, transit options require patience and flexibility.

Biking in Nassau is challenged by limited infrastructure such as narrow roads and sparse bike lanes, making it less ideal for routine use. The terrain itself might not be too demanding, but traffic conditions and the lack of dedicated paths can pose safety concerns. While cycling tours exist and offer recreational opportunities, biking is generally not favored for daily commuting in the city.
