However, the city's sprawling nature means that not all errands can be completed by walking, especially in more peripheral neighborhoods. Travelers often focus on staying within these central, pedestrian-friendly zones to take full advantage of the walkability, though some form of transport might still be necessary for reaching certain destinations.

Public transportation in Neuquén relies heavily on a well-connected bus network that requires a SUBE card. This network effectively links key parts of the city and extends to nearby cities like Plottier and Cipolletti. While generally affordable, the bus service suffers from occasional inaccuracies in timetable and map information, which makes planning a bit challenging. The proposed Metrobus project, intended to enhance transport efficiency, remains uncertain in operation status.
