Oruro, Bolivia, presents a somewhat walkable experience for travelers. The city center is compact and allows good pedestrian access to amenities such as shops, restaurants, and cultural sites, making it convenient to explore by foot. Much of what one might need on a daily basis is within walking distance if accommodations are centrally located. However, longer walks or additional transportation might be necessary for accessing destinations outside the central hub, especially for errands further afield.

Public transport in Oruro offers travelers reasonable options with an established system of buses and 'micros,' or small buses. These modes of transport connect major cities in Bolivia and have set intra-city routes, providing cost-effective options for getting around. However, the frequency and reach of services within Oruro itself may not match those found in larger metropolitan areas. Train connections also add to the region’s accessibility for more extensive travel, although the local transport infrastructure could feel limited in comparison to larger cities.

Biking in Oruro is somewhat feasible, but presents several challenges to travelers. The rugged terrain and high altitude can make cycling strenuous, especially if one isn't acclimatized. While there may be bike shops for repairs or parts, dedicated bike paths are not prevalent.
