Samsun is highly walkable in its central areas, especially near the coast, where visitors will find an array of attractions, cafes, and shops accessible on foot. The city maintains a dynamic center with mixed-use developments, contributing to its pedestrian-friendly environment. However, the city's extensive east-west layout means that exploring beyond certain neighborhoods would require additional transportation.

Samsun offers a reliable public transportation system with a coastal tram line and an extensive bus network that efficiently connect different parts of the city. Travelers can also use shared taxis, or dolmuşes, which are readily available. A rechargeable card is necessary for buses and trams, but some may find the lack of Google Maps integration cumbersome. Despite this, the system is well-suited for those willing to navigate local transit options.

Samsun presents a mixed environment for biking. The coastal areas are generally conducive to cycling, but heavy traffic and busy roads can pose challenges, especially along the Black Sea coast. While bike rentals are present, the city's hilly terrain and traffic conditions may deter casual cyclists.
