San Leandro offers various neighborhoods that are ideal for travelers who enjoy exploring on foot. Areas near the downtown BART station, Broadmoor, and Estudillo Estates are particularly walkable. These regions provide a fine blend of residential, commercial, and leisure spaces, with cafes, restaurants, and shops all within walking distance. However, some areas remain more car-centric, which could be less convenient for those reliant on walking.

Travelers will find San Leandro generally well-served by public transport. The BART station offers excellent connections to major Bay Area destinations like Oakland and San Francisco.
