Seaside is extremely pedestrian-friendly, especially in its downtown and beachside areas. The iconic 1.5-mile Promenade provides a scenic, direct route along the oceanfront, linking accommodations and attractions such as shops and eateries within easy walking distance. Additionally, the Gilbert District and Upper Broadway are pedestrian-centric, enhancing the walkable atmosphere. Some residential zones might be further, but the key city spots are conveniently reachable on foot.
While Seaside does offer some public transport, it is rather limited for frequent use. Connections via the NW Connector and POINT bus to larger cities like Portland, Astoria, and Cannon Beach are available, and a summertime trolley provides limited local service. However, the coverage may not suffice for regular local commuting, making it more practical for occasional trips or travel to nearby towns.
Seaside offers a conducive environment for biking, with bike lanes along Highway 101 and city campaigns encouraging cycling. The Seaside Promenade serves as a beautiful path for cyclists, and bike rentals are accessible for tourists. Although some traffic may present challenges, biking remains a convenient and enjoyable way to explore the city's multiple trails and complete many errands.
