Trois-Rivières offers a somewhat walkable environment primarily concentrated in the downtown core, known as Vieux Trois-Rivières, which is bustling with shops, restaurants, and historical sites. Travelers will find this area pedestrian-friendly. However, as you move away from the central district, the spread of amenities can necessitate a car for errands, causing some reliance on transportation for daily needs. This makes the city a bit challenging for those who prefer everything within a short walk.

The public transit in Trois-Rivières, operated by the Société de Transport de Trois-Rivières (STTR), provides a fair level of connectivity across the city through its bus services. For travelers, the central transfer point downtown offers convenient access to other parts of the city and connects key areas like the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). However, while useful, the frequency and coverage might not be optimal for all travel needs, particularly outside peak times or less central areas, thus requiring some planning.

Biking in Trois-Rivières is feasible, thanks to the presence of some bike paths and access to the impressive Route Verte network. For those who enjoy cycling, Île Saint-Quentin park provides a dedicated path for leisurely rides.
