Getting Around Xabia: Walkability, Public Transit & Biking

Valencian Community

Walkability

80
Excellent

Xabia is quite walkable, especially in its key areas. The old town is very pedestrian-friendly with its narrow streets, shops, and historical sites. The port area is also easily navigable on foot, offering restaurants and a promenade. Even the Arenal beach area, while more spread out, is walkable along the beach and main avenues. A traveler could easily find cafes, restaurants, and basic amenities within walking distance, particularly if staying in or near the old town or port. There are also co-working spaces available. However, some longer distances between the three main areas (Old Town, Port, Arenal) might require a bus or bike.

Public Transit

55
Okay

Public transit in Xabia is present but not extensive. Buses connect the three main areas of Xabia and also link Xabia to other cities like Denia, Alicante, and Valencia. The bus station is centrally located. The frequency of buses, however, may be a limiting factor. A traveler could rely on buses for intercity travel and getting between the different parts of Xabia, but it might require some planning and adherence to the bus schedules. There is no railway infrastructure.

Bikeability

70
Excellent

Xabia offers decent biking conditions. There are dedicated bike routes, and the terrain is suitable for cycling in many areas. Renting a bike is also possible with several bike rental shops. However, some sources note the bike lanes are not always well-connected, and in some areas, cyclists must share the road with cars. Despite these limitations, a traveler could enjoy biking for leisure and errands, especially to reach areas not easily accessible by walking. Mountainous routes around Xabia offer cycling enthusiasts a great place to train.
